I got great timing! Things have been super busy lately and apparently my only days free to fish perfectly coincide with the only snow days of the winter so far! Derek and I met up and headed to some familiar water. We were met by blustery winter conditions – which was somewhat of a shame seeing as the preceding week or two had been nothing but pleasant weather. Fishing was slow but we persisted and were later rewarded with a nice little native surprise. Not sure where this fish came from but Derek hooked into a native trout. I’ve only seen one other cutthroat specimen in this particular stretch of river before so it was a nice surprise. It’s nice to know some native species are holding strong in our state’s waters. Even though the fishing wasn’t hot it’s always awesome to get out into a wintery Utah landscape and fish in solitude.

Some great shots. Looks like a fine (if chilly) day for fishing.
Thanks! I was pretty stoked how some of them came out. It was a super beautiful day and sometimes when the fishing is slow it’s fun to take more time behind the lens!
A nice unexpected surprise. Good stuff and great shots too.
It really was. I love seeing our native species show up when you don’t expect them!
Ridiculous pic! very beautiful.
